Stair H.

Stair H. was produced using our proprietary Scawo system for freeform staircases. The Scawo system facilitates design, production and assembly thanks to cutting-edge computational design and 3d concrete printing. It reduces time from design to production to hours instead of days and on-site assembly to days instead of weeks.
Stair H. is the largest staircase to date produced using the Scawo system for prefabricated and freeform concrete staircases. It spans two storeys at a diameter of almost four metres and serves as the central sculptural element of a private residence on Lake Constance.
All 13 segments were 3D printed in concrete using our SPI technology within 16 hours. Subsequently, they were prepared for assembly and shipped to site where all segments could be lifted into the stair opening with a construction crane. The pieces were designed with assembly in mind, enabling the positioning of all elements in a matter of only two days.
