Our 3d printed concrete has officially been sainted! Well, at least in the form of the statue of Saint Ulrich for the parish of Lengmoos in South Tyrol.
Last week, on the occasion of celebrating Ferragosto and the 800th anniversary of the parish church, the statue, 3d concrete printed by us using Selective Paste Intrusion, was officially consecrated. The original statue, dating back to the 17th century (second image, below the new statue), was 3d scanned by Atelier 3DW and scaled up to a height of more than 2 metres. Further planning was done by Skeno and the assembly supported by Rottensteiner GmbH.
This project was only possible thanks to the openness of the parish and its members towards applying a novel fabrication method that contrasts drastically with more traditional crafts used for creating sacred statues. We would thus like to sincerely thank Father Benedikt, Stefan Fink (Raika Ritten), Herbert Psenner (president of of the parish council) and everyone else involved. It has been a wonderful experience.
